Missouri Reading Circle Certificate Program

The Reading Circle program is provided by the Missouri State Teacher's Association for all Missouri students. Children can read books of any length and genre of their choice with the hope they will have exposure to both fiction and nonfiction titles.

To earn a Reading Circle Certificate at the end of the school year:

• Children in Pre-school/Early Childhood through Grade 2 need to read or have read to them 20 books*.
• Children in Grades 3-6 need to read 16 books*.
• *Books which are part of the Missouri Building Block, Show-Me award list, and Mark Twain award list can be read for both the Reading Circle certificate and award list certificate.

Missouri Building Block

This award is designed to encourage families to read aloud to children from birth through Kindergarten.

Show-Me Award

The purpose of the Show Me Readers Award is to promote literature, literacy, and reading in Missouri elementary schools for grades one through three and to promote recognition of authors and illustrators of books that are favorites of Missouri children in these grades.
